(Gen 3:9 KJV) And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
The significance of this question seems to have gotten lost somewhere between the original writing and innumerable interpretations.
Seriously Adam… where are you?
This question is impossible to answer without some knowledge of your location and surrounding environment…. Only a blind parent or an idiot would ask a new born baby… where art thou? And the only acceptable answer would be… “lost” or “I have no idea”.
Surely God is neither blind nor an idiot, so why did God ask this question of his own creation that he was originally in communion with?
The purpose is obvious if you listen to the answer that is given by Adam (man)…
(Gen 3:10-11 KJV) And he (Adam) said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he (God) said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Imagine for a moment if a corpuscle in your body arrived at the ignorant (a little knowledge) conclusion that it was ‘naked’ and began to hide away from the rest of the body in shame and later began to grab other parts of your body to make clothes for itself… Perhaps, like cancer, such a corpuscle is a part of the body and yet has somehow alienated itself through deviant thinking (programming) and deviant behaviour (sin).
Looking deeper into the question of where art thou, we find that humanity is lost in its own delusion… though a product of the tree of life in truth, humanity has eaten from the tree of ignorance (a little knowledge) and like a vehicle driven by a mad man, is dangerous.
One cannot determine where thou art, until one has a grasp on who thou art…. Since, it is impossible to locate something that lacks individual identity, name or number.
Though we could identify, label and number each corpuscle in our body, our labeling and numbering has little to do with a corpuscles real identity, just as we may call an unknown ‘creature’ a mouse and classify a ‘mouse’ as a ‘mammal’ or personify it as ‘Mickey’ it could just as easily be called a ‘corpuscle’, ‘wild’ or remain unnamed…. Our identification, classification and language… has no affect on a creation’s real structure, behaviour or relationship to the whole… it only entrenches our delusion. Am reminded of the time my two year old son screamed and cried when I flushed the contents of his nappy down the toilet, it seems to be the nature of the human mind ‘in knowing’ to become attached to all sorts of shit.
In truth ‘we’ exist within creation where light / energy / electrons pass through a point of bodily resistance creating an apparent sense of individual consciousness and the flow of a thing we call ‘time’. If ‘we’ did not resist this flow, our consciousness would flow at the speed of light and time and therefore be timeless, eternal and in union (love) with divinity.
(John 3:8 KJV) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
WHERE ART THOU?
