(Gen 3:24 KJV) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep ‘the way’ of the tree of life.
Who knows ‘how’ we should live?
Should we live as ONE big family sharing all things?
Should we live as separated families caring for our own?
Should we live as individuals sharing all things?
Should we live as individuals caring for ourselves?
Each ‘way’ has its own set of benefits and problems… perhaps the most difficult issue is who is to stand over each ‘way’ to ensure compliance and who can be judge over those who are brought into account because of failure to adhere to the ‘way’?
Should we live openly without barriers and partitions?
Each ‘way’ has its own liberty and constraints… yet each division we create to protect our individual freedom, becomes a barrier to the liberty of another and to all creatures that cannot pass over, pass under, pass around or pass through.
It would be fair to say that those who build walls live in fear… usually this fear is justified from the past experiences of violation.
The ‘Great Wall of China’ was built to keep the ‘Huns (wild way)’ out, not to keep the people (cultured way) in. The ‘Berlin Wall’ was built to separate East from West and ‘Communism (the communist way)’ from ‘Capitalism (the capitalist way)’..
There are Political ways (governed by men), cultured ways (followed by the people), there are Religious ways (governed by deities) and there are Wild ways (governed by brute strength), combined and other ways.
Ultimately the purpose of any ‘way’ is to lead somewhere, hopefully beneficial. Any ‘way’ that fails to lead somewhere, is not really a ‘way’ at all, but either a ‘dead end’, ‘a circle’ or an ‘out of the way’.
The way to escape is not the same as the way to freedom.
Without a destination or vision it is impossible to know if the ‘way’ is a success or not, since if one wants to escape from ‘A’ and ends up at ‘D’ it doesn’t matter… but if one wants to travel to ‘B’ and ends up at ‘D’ then one knows the way followed is not the way to get to ‘B’. However on arriving at ‘D’ one may conclude that it will do, anyway... this is called compromise and it is what we do when we don’t know a better way.
Is there anywhere on Earth a free ‘way’ where men and women can live in peace, without fear, rules, divisive walls, apathetically elected governments or fear appointed overlords?
Jesus and his disciples (the church) held and shared all things in common and death came upon those who kept anything for themselves, especially prosperity, because there is no faith in withholding, this comes from fear, insecurity and greed..
(Mat 11:10 KJV) For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
