(Gen 26:4-5 KJV) And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
What is religion and why does any one bother with it?
In its strictest sense ‘religion’ is a ‘true way of life’ and if followed this ‘way of life’ produces enormous benefits to the follower, since it aligns with life’s purpose and destiny. In its worse sense ‘religion’ is a ‘set of rules’ to follow blindly or circumnavigate whenever the rules become problematic in some way.
The world is full of many different ‘religions’ and new ones are invented each day, each one providing a ‘set of rules’ that initiates must follow in order to obtain the prize. In this way ‘religion’ is no different from any other activity humans undertake for stimulus, pleasure or reward… It is a ‘way’ or any well trodden path to get what you want.
Some just want to be ‘good’, some want to be loved, some want health, some want wealth, some want eternal life and some just want something to eat, drink and another breath… Depending on your religion, the algebraic formula is effectively:
E=MC2
E. Some prized Existence or Enlightened state
M. Some Manual effort or Mechanism that gives leverage
C. Some Celestial being(s) or Concept that (over2) delivers
What do you seek?
· Jews seek ‘The Promised Land’
· Arabs seek ‘Paradise’
· Christians seek ‘Heaven’
· Taoists seek ‘TAO’
· Buddhists seek ‘Nirvana’
· Hindus seek ‘Samadhi’
· I seek 'the truth'...
Is it really possible for men to formulate their ‘life’ for gain?
(Luke 9:25 NIV) What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?
At the risk of offending Christians, even further - Jesus was not even a Christian.... he was a Jew.... Do any of these human affiliations and labels really matter to anyone, but our deluded selves?
Surely THIS LIFE IS the greatest unsolicited GIFT, why then do we seek a still greater prize?
(Mat 6:30-33 KJV) Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
