(Gen 4:6-7 KJV)
And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

When things are not going your way and you are losing, ‘sin’ is waiting at the door, in simple terms; ‘sin’ is just another word for ‘cheating’ on love, on truth and on life.

There are a number of levels of cheating, there is the cheat who keeps silent or takes no action in the face of what is wrong, there is the cheat who twists the truth, there is the cheat who deals unjustly, there is the cheat who does not give credit where credit is due and there is the cheat who transgresses the natural order.

Many cheat because they are fearful, ignorant or greedy and have been raised in such a way and are preconditioned by their upbringing, many cheat because they deny or see no accountability, and they believe they are like gods… Still others cheat because they think they can get away with it. When we lose faith in love, truth or life, we all cheat and we can always justify ourselves.

Sin is not just a question of keeping the laws of your society, for sin was in the world before there was written Mosaic Law. (ie: Thou Shall not Kill, etc), even.

According to the Bible, the sinless are perfect and never die. So our sin is not founded on our attitude towards our neighbour, our ‘original sin’ is based on our attitude towards our maker, it is a self deluding ‘sickness’ (stupidity) in our heart (mind) and soul. Adam didn’t fall ‘in to’ sin, Adam ‘fell out’ of love, for originally he was ‘in Love’ (aka: in God).

Once I struggled to understand why God would be jealous, jealousy had always struck me as something suffered by the insecure, a frail human condition. Yet this jealousy is one aroused by unfaithfulness. In analogy, imagine being the father and creator of a number of children, providing for their needs and protecting them as they grow - only to have them later deny you and run after substitutes?  How would this make you feel?  Jealous, angry or hurt… perhaps?    I notice a lot of ‘righteous’ anger and pain in the ‘Tanakh’.

So, if you were this father, how would you bring your children back to the truth? How would you convince them that the other substitutes they chase are false with dubious agendas and value, while you alone are their true creator and your way and love are genuine? Would you give up on them or destroy them, like bent robots, because they cannot be salvaged and have ceased to serve their true purpose, or worse still, chase after their own purposes, deny your existence and offer creative credit to false gods?

While praying, I found myself saying - “I know humanity is responsible for creating most of the worlds’ problems” and then had to check myself, since humanity is responsible for creating ALL the worlds’ problems, since originally all was perfect. Yet it is not sinful humanity that is the problem, it is the sin within, remove the sin and every man is perfect.

Jesus was a genius because he could clearly see that all the worlds’ problems stem from the perpetuation of sin. So the ‘ONLY WAY’ to solve all the worlds’ problems is the removal of sin… but how, if not by re-education and the restoration of faith in God?

(John 16:8 KJV)
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
