We live in a dangerous time when ‘faith’ and ‘hope’ are sold for profit… we see many people selling books and giving seminars on feeling good, being positive and embracing all things and in such ‘faith’ the ‘universe’ will reward them with prosperity and love… and whatever else they desire… So, it makes you FEEL good, but is it truly good???
Jesus was, and still is, the greatest evangelist, his message was ‘free’ and he never sold out one word, so why is his ‘free’ message ignored and so many of these other would be ‘false’ prophets lauded for cash?
The ‘devil’ once offered Jesus the world and the ‘devil’ will always rule people through their desires… because that is the best way to take a soul captive…. But true freedom cannot be found in captivity… or in any drugged, decadent or deluded demonic state…
Let’s look at how professional motivational speakers, evangelists, entertainers and TV personalities get riches and power… Firstly and foolishly, you will pay to hear what you want to hear and if it isn’t music to your ears you will leave.
Even if you don’t experience pleasure, if you paid to be there, your loss is their gain. Secondly, if the mellow music removes the tension of the day, the speaker plays with your emotions, touches a soft spot in your heart and presents the damaged potential recipients of your donation or the testimony to good works, then the chances are you’ll be leaving with less cash than when you arrived.
Lastly, unlicensed television is ‘free’ to air for one reason only, the product vendors are footing the bill (at your expense), TV survives by ensuring that interesting shows keep you mesmerized between their carefully and psychologically crafted advertising…
So in truth… YOU.. not the universe, are making your idols rich and the truth is, you’d be richer without paying them to be in your life…. And there’s the rub.
The shepherds and leaders wrap themselves in the fleeces of their flocks and pacify their flocks with words of warmer days ahead… words of faith and hope…
(1 Cor 13:13 KJV) And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Who can charge money for charity? No-one, because charity is something that you GIVE, it is not something that can be bought or sold. Such is the TRUE nature of LOVE and GOD.
There is a saying that “those who can… do, while those that can’t… teach”… Jesus taught by example, not by expensive books, TV shows, dvd’s and seminars…. There was no interspersing his sermon on the mount with fizzy drink commercials either… So…STOP fleecing the flock and start feeding them… for love, truth and life’s sake!!!!
