(Gen 1:11 KJV) And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Even as a child the concept of an all-powerful God speaking things into existence was difficult to comprehend, there were always so many unanswered questions: Where is Gods mouth? Who was he speaking to? What language does he speak and more importantly, How does anything know what he is talking about? Human language developed over millennia and still we misunderstand one another, so how could this ‘new sound’ of God, be understood and executed exactly?
I mean, If I asked you to “blim mah shah”, how would you know what I was talking about unless you had a clear understanding of what was meant by the terms. And again, even if I asked you to “bring forth grass”, how would you know what I was talking about unless you had a clear vision of what I meant by “grass”.
And so it is, through perfect communion with all existence with no resistance, God through sheer ‘free will and love in waves and matter’ makes things appear, grow and change.
On the other side of the argument we have theories of evolution, that happen over millennia and produce rich diversity through the random association of things in space and time.
Undoubtedly things change, we see this everyday and given the fragility of life, it is essential otherwise nothing could grow or survive - Change and movement are the very essence of life and its measure. If nothing changed, life would be still and not alive.
The constant flow of light from the sun and the seasonal changes across the planet’s surface ensure that life is never still or unchanging. It is estimated that the earth rotates at 25000 miles per hour, yet we barely notice any movement at all. Yet we have created nothing that can travel at this speed so smoothly and yet hold 7 billion people ++.
No doubt the 7 billion people have to compete with one another for space and survival and though this competition could be lessened with equal sharing, the fact remains you can only get so many fish in a tank before they begin to suffer. There is a natural limit (law) to things and exceeding this limit inevitably causes drastic change and often death. If life were purely about numbers then “bacteria” win the prize and if these are too small to see, then what about “ants” : are these less evolved or more evolved than humanity?
I have 2 legs and 2 arms, yet an “ant” has 4 legs and 2 arms, can lift at least 10 times its own weight and can walk up vertical surfaces and some even grow their own wings and fly away, like humans metamorphosing into ‘angels’… so who are we to vaunt our evolutionary theories and our technology?
One of the biggest issues with evolutionary theory is the origin of the single cell and its magical division into multi-cellular yet fully functional creatures… How does one cell “accidentally” divide to produce something that works perfectly and looks and tastes like “grass” and then…. what about the sperm and I?
(Mat 6:30 KJV) Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
