(Gen 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
This is the first verse in the first chapter in first book of the bible…
In the Hebrew God created:
Heaven: shamayim, shaw-mah'-yim; dual of an unused sing. shameh, shaw-meh'; from an unused root mean. to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perh. alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve):--air, X astrologer, heaven (-s).
Earth: 'erets, eh'-rets; from an unused root prob. mean. to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land):-- X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world.
No mystery here, God created the sky celestial and the land terrestrial.
So what is the world and when was it created?
The first reference in the Bible is rather cryptic and comes from Samuel:
(1 Sam 2:8 KJV) He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them.
In the Hebrew the world is set, like a table or stage, it is not created.
World: tebel, tay-bale'; the earth (as moist and therefore inhabited); by extens. the globe; by impl. its inhabitants; spec. a partic. land, as Babylonia, Pal.:--habitable part, world.
“All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely Players” - Shakespeare
It is important to make the distinction between Heaven, Earth and the World, they are three separate domains.
(Psa 89:11 KJV) The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.
Jesus frequently made reference to these three domains and it would be foolish and confusing to muddle them up for instance:
(Mat 6:10 KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
(Mat 12:32 KJV) And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Over 2000 years ago a new world was coming…. a new stage was being set…
