(Gen 2:15-17 KJV) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Despite all the human activity in the world, there are really only three ways that human beings can add value to life and they must be kept in this order of priority:
1.Tending and protecting the garden and its creatures (care of earth) - primary purpose
2.Procreation of human life (children) - unsustainable with the neglect of 1
3.Healing and restoration (maintenance) - necessary to fix neglect of 1 and abuse of 2.
These activities, encapsulate love. All other human activities are generally disruptive (break unity / faith), distractive (avoid truth) or destructive (damage life).
Contrary to popular myth, “life was meant to be easy”. It is the obsession with the knowledge of ‘good and evil’ and neglect of life, over the centuries, that has brought constant trouble, sickness, destruction and death.
Though we may ‘think’ our works are “good”, our measure of ‘good and evil’ is fundamentally flawed. Only God is good and only those who align with God’s will in faith. (heart, soul, mind and strength) anything less than this is religious deception.
(Mat 19:16-17 KJV) And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
What good is a book? What good is a printing press? What good is a computer?
1.They are made by destroying trees and from mining earth elements
2.They amuse and educate our children, yes, but to do what?
3.They push the knowledge of “good & evil”, but for whose benefit?
If our books, printing presses and computers don’t reveal love, truth and a life that is truly good, then what “good” are they, except a means in $’s to serve their benefactor’s ends?
Which is worse pushing wrong knowledge or pushing drugs? The world is full of pushers and purveyors of “evil will”. Yet God, who is truly good, does not push anyone or anything, God leaves us free to choose. So, if we lose or get lost, who can be blamed?
Ultimately it is our choices that determine our faith and our fate (our life). And if we are not ‘free’ to choose, then we are already ‘losing’ or ‘lost’ under the influence of some other “evil agency”, whether internal or external - addiction or baggage, virtual or real.
(Mat 19:21-22 KJV) Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
