(Gen 2:9 KJV) And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Right and wrong, like good and evil are the two extreme measurements of human behaviour, the key difference is that right & wrong are measures imposed as law.
Taking the words ‘right’ and ‘good’ as synonymous, we see that the book of Genesis and creation is generally considered good, at least 6 times, indeed.(Gen 1:31 KJV) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.
Semantically the word ‘good’ seems to come from the objectification of the word ‘God’ or ‘God’ comes from the abstraction of the word ‘good’… whatever, the origins, few would disagree that universal creation is a universally ‘good’ thing. So where does the ‘wrong’ or ‘evil’ come from?
The ‘evil’ comes from anything or anyone that opposes the nature of ‘goodness’ and ‘God’, since evil by its very nature works in opposition to what is right and good. How can this be?
Evil is conceived by the inability to acknowledge a single source of truth and goodness.
The nature of the human mind and relative knowledge is such that, once an idea is conceived it can spread like seeds in fertile soil. This is neither good nor evil in itself, it is just a fact, but it does mean that the human mind can grow good or evil.
One of the biggest issues with relative human knowledge and the convolutions of the human brain is our capability to twist the truth, such that ‘wrong’ can be made to appear ‘right’ and vice versa. This is perhaps our greatest ‘evil’ trait… our capability to twist the truth to suit ourselves and thereby establish a position of self righteousness often above love, truth and life…. and all rational common sense.
The earth is littered with the dust of generations of humanity that contributed so much in their own eyes and in their own thinking…. And yet, for all our philosophy, science and engineering…. has humanity ever really created anything that compares to the universal integrity of a star, a flower, a tree or a bird?
Righteousness and goodness comes from God, it cannot be imposed by man, the best we can ever hope to achieve is some kind of faithful alignment to the purpose for which we were created and some kind of loving allegiance to our father/creator?
Ultimately right and wrong are only proven by the consequences of the ‘way’ in which we live, ‘right’ cannot be imposed, less our legal structures stifle the freedom of evolution that benefits life on earth. Good and right are synonymous with God. Remember…”God is love, truth and life”... to contravene God, will eventually hurt you and your loved ones, if any….
Yes, the innocent should stand up for righteousness against what is wrong, but righteousness must be shown, it should not be shoved, for such, is the nature of evil.
(Mat 5:16 KJV) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
