No child or creature asks to be born, no child or creature governs its structure, behaviour or DNA. Each is governed by evolutionary forces that precede it and sustaining forces that embrace it.
As imaginative beings we often deceive ourselves into thinking that we create things, but the truth is we only manipulate things that already exist. Humans create nothing. In fact humans are way more destructive than they are creative.
Every house we have built has come from the substance of the earth, every tree we cut down is like the removal of a lung. It is impossible for humans to ‘create’ without first destroying something else. Every piece of steel and glass that builds Babylon has first been removed from the earth. If God ever introduced copyright laws, we’d all be in court.
The most creative thing humans can really do is sow a seed, nurture it into a growing tree that bears some fruit. Yet even if we sow a seed, we cannot make it grow, it grows by the grace of God and the natural processes of life.
The ‘force’ that we now still don’t really know, but have named ‘electricity’ has been around but unrecognized since the beginning of time. The Greeks first noticed its effect a few thousand years ago, when rubbing the naturally insulated and hardened sap substance with wool gave rise to a ‘magical’ energy. Even so, it was not until the 1600 and 1700s (only 300-400 years ago) and the age of science that it was re-discovered, named and exploited.
Naturally speaking, what we call ‘electricity’ exists for just an ‘instance’ when significant potential difference arises between two things in nature which cannot be resolved immediately because of a third thing that insulates them or keeps them apart. The Grecian ‘amber’ was only ‘electric’ when rubbed in dry air, humidity and water, ground electricity immediately.
In the modern world today the use of electricity has become ubiquitous as a source of power to drive our many electrical manipulations. With the advent of ‘computers’ we have managed to create ‘virtual’ realities that can be shared and interacted with globally. If not via TV stations and Cinema, then via a plethora of devices connected through communication networks and the internet. Often unrecognized by the many users of these devices and media is the fundamental fact that the only ‘reality’ in all of this ‘virtual reality’ is the flow of ‘electricity’. When the ‘electricity’ ceases to flow - all these devices and all the ‘virtual realities’ in the world, cease.
Our reality is so similar to these virtual realities, each of us exist inside an eternal matrix much like software components inside a computer. We think we are real and indeed as long as the power flows, it is the only ‘reality’ we know. However, what we fail to see is the ‘power’ that underlies and drives the whole system. It is a power that flows from the beginning to the end. It is the invisible power that moves everything, it is the invisible power that holds the planets in their orbits and keeps them turning, it is the invisible power that lights the sun and keeps it burning, it is the invisible power inside each and every living being, cell and atom, it is the spirit of God and without it, everything is dead.
