“Energy” is an English word given to that intangible force that is expressed and experienced through some kind of movement that effects change.
Energy comes in many forms because there are now many known forms or elements that can be seen to move and be moved. We now speak of light (solar) energy, water energy, wind energy, electrical energy, nuclear energy, etc, etc… but what are we really talking about?
From a Biblical perspective the ‘Spirit of God’ is like the breath or wind of God that somehow moved upon the waters.
From a current scientific thinking perspective the ‘expanding universe’ at the origin of space and time is like an explosive energy spreading ever outwards.
From a Hindu perspective the universal form, breathes in while expanding and breathes out when contracting.
Whichever perspective you accept intellectually, the fact remains that ‘we exist’ and therefore some kind of energy or movement is at work that gives space, time and life to everything in our universe. Without this movement or energy, all would be still and dead.
Einstein postulated that Energy (E) = the mass of an element (m) x the speed of light (c) x the speed of light (c). Giving rise to the widely accepted scientific formula of E=mc2.
I strongly suspect this formula is not right for two simple reasons, firstly our universe is 3 dimensional therefore using the mathematical formula for an area of a square in two dimensions is probably inappropriate.
If energy radiates at the speed of light, then logically it would radiate in all dimensions at the same time. Therefore a 3D cube, sphere or donut (toroid) would be a more accurate mathematical model for energy dispersion measuring its expansive volume from a central source... and not just its final 2D area of spread.
Secondly, if the original mass of the universe were zero, then E= 0 x 299792458 x 299792458 metres per second, would result in zero energy at the beginning and zero energy as an end result, which makes no explosive or expansive sense.
Such formula just sidestep the awkward question of the cause behind the whole effect. Because movement (energy) cannot occur without motivation, monitoring the movement or measuring the speed of the energy, provides no insight into the source or motivation behind the existence of movement (energy) or the existence of matter.
